Parts of a whole was a solo exhibition at Kit Form Gallery, Bristol in 2024. This exhibition presented new sculptural works that reach across time, blurring the aesthetic structure of historic artefacts with contemporary industrial materials.

The name and theme of the exhibition is derived from the word β€œsherd” , an archaeological term for a piece of pottery, broken off from a larger whole ceramic object. Sherds are the most common artefacts left behind by past civilisations. Sherds are parts of the larger story from which we are able to understand and interpret how people lived. The exhibition asks what contemporary sherds will be left behind and how they will be understood or reassembled.

Lit by floodlights often found on construction sites, suggesting an area of study, excavation or inspection. The sculptural artworks are constructed from materials removed from their original context, car parts, artificial fabrics and waste materials are reformed and displayed as relics for veneration. The placement of the sculptural objects invites the audience to view the fragments and remains of our civilisation as unfamiliar or alien.
